The Demon softball team was hosting Mid-Prairie in a make up from last Wednesday and the Demons came away with the sweep. Washington got up quick scoring four runs in the bottom of the first with Caitlin Fishback and Lauren Vittetoe each hitting in runs. The Demons led 4-0 after one, but Mid-Prairie batted around in the top of the second and scored five runs to take a one run lead 5-4. Neither team would scored until the sixth. The Demons’ Molly Donnolly led off with a walk, Kaitlin Bucholtz got a hit and Shelby White would reach on an error, all three would score. The Demons would win 7-5. Greta Smeins struck out three, walked one, and gave up six hits.

In the second game, Mid-Prairie scored two runs in the first and three in the top of the third to lead 5-0. The Demons though would bat around in the bottom of that inning and scored six runs to take a 6-5 lead. The Demons would add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with Lucy Libe, Sammy Ellingson, and Caitlin Fishback each getting singles to load the bases. Lauren Vittetoe would clear them with a double. Demons won 9-6. Demon starting pitcher Maddie Bohr went out early after an ankle injury suffered trying to get back to first on a pick off, so Beth Dillion pitched until the very end with Greta Smeins coming on in the sixth to finish the game. The Demons improve to 20-8 and will host Mount Pleasant for a double header tonight.
