Summer flooding has lowered the amount of sweet corn available in Washington County, and no local sweet corn is available in the City of Washington. Tammy Vittetoe says she and her husband usually pick and sell daily this time of year, but early corn that made it through this summer’s flooding has been sold, and now they’re waiting for the surviving full season corn to mature. Vittetoe isn’t aware of anyone else selling Washington sweet corn, and suspects other growers are experiencing similar small yields.
