The “Future” Friends of the Port Louisa Wildlife Refuge is having an organizational meeting coming up.  Friends Groups provide the Refuge with assisting in public education, promotion and fundraising and volunteer projects.  Future Friends Coordinator Kathy Vance says the Port Louisa Wildlife Refuge is part of the U.S. District Wildlife Service and is an “unknown gem” in Louisa County.  The Refuge comprises over 83 hundred acres and is within the famous Mississippi Flyway, one of the nation’s most important migration routes.  The Future Friends meeting is Thursday, July 15th at 7pm at the Izaak Walton League Building in Louisa County.  All who are interested are invited.
