At the state softball tournament today, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks will close out their season with two games today. The Golden Hawks lost in the opening round to St. Edmond Fort Dodge 5-2, so now they will meet IKM-Manning at 10-this morning. Regardless if they win or lose the Golden Hawks will then play at 2-this afternoon. You’ll be able to hear both games right here on the one to count on KCII.

Yesterday at the state softball tournament, Southeast Conference’s Keokuk won their opening game to move on to the semifinal. Last year the Chiefs faced Sioux City Bishop Heelan in the opening round at state and won 2-1, yesterday they beat Heelan 1-0. Mollie Martin scored in the bottom of the first and that would be all of the scoring. Pitcher Hannah Washburn held Heelan to two hits and struck out eight. Keokuk will now play the defending state champs Clear Creek Amana. The Clippers beat Harlan 7-2. Keokuk and Clear Creek-Amana met earlier this season with the Clippers winning 3-1. The two will play tomorrow afternoon.
