Johnson County, home to the University of Iowa and the 2nd highest concentration of medical professionals in the country, is among the best counties in America for jobs. CNNMoney ranks Johnson County 24th in the country for job creation in the last nine years, a ranking it correlates to the University of Iowa’s top-ranked Writers Workshop, Iowa City’s UNESCO “City of Literature” status, and jobs created through University Hospital and clinics.  Johnson County’s unemployment rate is less than half of the national average, and Iowa City Area Development spokesman Mark Nolte says non-retail companies in the area have added more than 500 jobs in the last year.
