The Odessa Wildlife Complex east of Wapello this week was being threatened because of fast water rising in the Mississippi River. Bill Ohde from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources now says under current river predictions, water flowing into Odessa through the lower spillway may only be a couple of inches as opposed to six to eight feet. The DNR says a rise of six to eight feet is possible over the next following days if a new heavy rain system moves in, but is not likely.
