The Washington County Board of Supervisors has appointed National Guard veteran Darren Dennler to the county’s Veterans Affairs Commission. Dennler says he retired from military duty five years ago after 22 years of service, including five years of active National Guard deployment. Dennler says his new duties include reviewing claims in the county and getting the word out to Washington area veterans about the services that are available through Veterans Affairs. County Supervisor Jim Miksch says the addition of a National Guard member to the commission is in line with the group’s goal of having a diverse military membership.
