Dorothy Luckenbill

Services for 97 year old Dorothy Luckenbill of Washington are Wednesday at 10 am at the United Presbyterian Church with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.  Visitation is tomorrow from Noon to 8, with the family present from 6 to 8pm.  A memorial has been established to the United Presbyterian Home, Presbyterian Church and Hospice of Washington County.

Funeral services for 93 year old Myrl Levitt of Washington are Saturday (7/17) at 10:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Washington with burial at Elm Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be this afternoon (7/16) until 8, with the family present from 6 to 8pm.  Memorials have been established to the United Presbyterian Home and the United Presbyterian Church.

Celebration of Life services for 80 year old Esther Yoder of Kalona are Sunday (7/18) afternoon at 3:00 at East Union Mennonite Church in Rural Kalona. Burial is at the East Union Cemetery. Visitation is tomorrow (7/17) from 2 – 7:30 at the Peterseim Funeral Home with family present from 2 – 4 and 6 – 7:30. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or East Union Mennonite Church.

Wellman Water “Blue Baby” Scare Could Have Been Prevented

The City of Wellman informed residents on July 1st that infants younger than six months could die of “Blue Baby Syndrome” caused by high levels of nitrates in the city’s water, but Wellman Public Works Director Aaron Shumaker says the danger never existed in the first place.

Dept. of Transportation Issues Tall Corn Driving Warning

Four people were killed and 49 injured in Iowa in 2009 from crashes at rural intersections caused by obstructed view from trees and crops, accidents that cost the state nearly half a million dollars.

Burial will be at West Union at a later date, and memorials have been established to the Iowa Retired School Personnel Association.
