Washington’s Downtown Revitalization has triggered a review of parking on and near the town square. Mayor Sandra Johnson says taxpayers invested “considerable sums in making [downtown] attractive, convenient, and safe”, and the city decided to discontinue parking hours.  The city wants to encourage visitors to “linger downtown,” and that may mean developing a parking plan for “who should park where” and “during what periods of time.”  Mayor Johnson says it’s important for merchants to understand the effect of employees parking in front of other business’s storefronts, a situation she describes as a “domino effect.”
