Softball postseason begins next week

The softball regular season is winding down. The Demons have one more doubleheader before the postseason and it will be against the opponent they’ll see in the opening round of the regional tournament. Washington goes to Williamsburg for on Tuesday to play two. Then the Demons will come home and host the Raiders next Saturday to begin postseason play. The winner of that game goes to Mount Pleasant to face the winner of Mount Pleasant and Fort Madison.

Class 1A teams start their postseason on Wednesday. Several of the area teams will actually be playing regular season games Monday and Tuesday and won’t have any time between the end of the regular season and the start of regionals. IMS will go to WACO. The winner plays the winner of Lone Tree and Winfield-Mount Union. Highland heads to Springville with the winner of that playing the winner of Lisbon and Alburnett. Keota heads to New Sharon to meet North Mahaska.

In Class 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks open hosting Columbus on Thursday. Winner plays the winner of Louisa-Muscatine and Wapello on Friday. Also Pekin heads to Sigourney with the winner playing the winner of Davis County and Cardinal.
