The WACO Warriors and IMS opened postseason play last night and it came down to the end. The two teams had traded wins during the season. The game was originally going to be played in Wayland but rain and field conditions moved it to Kalona. The Warriors were down one going into the bottom of the seventh but got two runners on with Angla Davis at the plate and she came up with a base hit to score two and get the 6-5 win. The Warriors advance and will now face the winner of Lone Tree and Winfield-Mount Union. Those two were suppose to play last night but were postponed because of weather. They’ll play tonight in Lone Tree. The winner will face WACO on Friday.
The Highland Huskies were up in Springville to open regional play and the Huskies coach says they couldn’t get the base runners and were hurt by errors in a 3-1 loss. Springville scored a run in the first and in the third to lead 2-0. Highland scored in the fourth but Springville got another run in the fifth. Highland was held to one hit and Springville’s pitcher struck out 13. Morgan Fisher had the Huskies hit. Highland finishes the season 19-10 on the season.
