The One to Count On...

Washington and Benton Community rained out in fourth, now big conference doubleheader tonight

The Demon baseball team was on the road playing Benton Community and got four innings in before the rain came. The Demons were up 3-2. Josh Moore had a double, Kaleb Rich had an rbi single, and Jordan Gier had a 2 run base hit. Head Coach Nathan Miller says they don’t intend to finish the game.

Now Washington heads to Fairfield tonight. They will essentially play two and a half games. They will start by resuming the second game of a doubleheader that was suspended because of rain earlier this season. That game was in Washington so even though they are in Fairfield tonight, the Demons will be the home team for that make up. They’ll start that one at 5-pm. Then they’ll play the two games as scheduled. You’ll be able to hear the first game of tonight’s doubleheader on the one to count on KCII.

Last night Mount Pleasant was playing playing Fort Madison in Fort Madison in a conference doubleheader. The Panthers were up late but the Bloodhounds came from behind but rallied late to get a 9-8 win which now puts the Demons a game ahead of the Panthers in the conference race. In the second game Mount Pleasant was leading 7-2 in the third before it was postponed tonight. The two teams are scheduled to play another doubleheader tonight in Mount Pleasant. At this point my understanding is they don’t plan on making up that suspended second game tonight. They are going to see how Washington and Fairfield turn out tonight and what the conference picture will look like after tonight and decide if they need to finish that second game from last night. As it stands now, the Demons have two conference losses and Mount Pleasant has three.
