The construction of a new high school in Washington has prompted the building of a new varsity softball field, and some of the other fields in town are benefiting. The new school will go in the area the varsity softball field was, and the new field will be built near the old site. Demon Head Softball Coach Angie Shrader says the dugouts from the old varsity field have been moved the east field at Stewart Elementary. She says previous the dugouts were pretty much just a wooden bench, now the dugouts from the varsity field will provide some cover and each has a storage closet. As for the playing surface, Shrader says they tried to move as much as they could over to the field at Lincoln. The aim is to have the new varsity softball field completed in time for next summer’s season.
