The college football season hasn’t begun yet, but already one local team knows they’ll be bowling. The Washington High School Cheerleaders have been invited to go to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. Cheer Sponsor Christy Escher says they were nominated and selected to go to the bowl. She says they’ll get to work with a nationally known choreographer and perform at halftime with a live singer. The squad needs to raise 15-thousand dollars to go and they plan to do it through several fund raisers. One will be an auction at the fall sports drink scrimmage. She says they will also send out letters to businesses in the community and around the state seeking sponsorships. Escher says they are the only squad in the state going, last year a squad from Iowa got to the Orange Bowl in a similar capacity.
