The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) PAC Announced on Monday the 19 recipients of their “Champion of Renewable Fuels” award for state legislators.  Republican Representative Betty DeBoef , representing Iowa and Keokuk Counties, was one such recipient of the award. The IRFA PAC Board says that the Champion of Renewable Fuels awards is given to state legislators with a clear voting record supporting renewable fuels and to those who provided leadership for renewable fuels in the Iowa Legislature. According to the IRFA press release, Iowa has 39 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.3 billion gallons of fuel annually and they say that has 14 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce nearly 320 million gallons annually.
