Iowa’s First Lady Mary Culver made a recent trip to Southeast Iowa communities to touch base with the citizens in Washington and Sigourney. First Lady Culver made stops at The Copper Lantern in Sigourney and at the Coffee Corner in Washington last week. The main focus of Culver’s visit was to talk about the statewide I-Jobs program. I-Jobs is Iowa’s Infrastructure Investment and Job initiative aimed at creating jobs and improving infrastructure across the state. Washington County is expected to have over $2 million in projects, while Keokuk County is expected to receive almost $300,000. During her visit, Culver took notice and praised the improvements made to downtown Washington, and said that Washington could be a “model” for other downtown areas.
