Today, at approximately noon, the Washington County Public Safety Center received a 911 call of a trailer on fire at 107 S. 6th Street, Lot 14, in Kalona, the home of Stephanie Corkery. The caller advised flames were visible coming from underneath the trailer. The Kalona Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and extinguished the fire. Kalona Fire Chief Steve Yotty advised the fire was electrical and the Corkery family will not be able to return to the residence right away. No one was inside the residence and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross was contacted and will be assisting the family. The Kalona Fire Department, Kalona Quick Responders, the Washington County Ambulance and personnel from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
