City Wide Garage Sale in Riverside this Week

The City of Riverside is having their Annual City-Wide Garage Sales this weekend.  Maps for the sales are available at Kum & Go, Casey’s, the Riverside Travel Mart and People’s Trust and Savings Bank.  The event is set for Saturday, August 14th from 8am to 2pm in Riverside.  For questions or to register, contact Amber Day at 648-5067.

Washington Community School Board Meeting Wednesday

The Washington Community School District’s Board of Education will meet Wednesday.  Agenda items include approving bids for the school system’s fuel and dairy needs, further discussions of board and superintendent goals, and legislative priorities for the district.

Funeral services for 73 year old Carl Underwood of Ollie will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday at the Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie. Burial will be in the Ollie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 tomorrow evening with family present from 6:00 to 8:00. Memorials have been established to Prairie View Methodist Church or the Ollie Volunteer First Responders.

Funeral services for 87 year old Henrietta Yaeger of Sigourney are tomorrow at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation is this afternoon from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.  A memorial fund has been established for St. Mary Catholic Church, Washington County Relay for Life or the Keokuk County Historical Society.

July Rainfall Far Less than June, Still Above Average

Rainfall in Washington County in July was approximately half that of June, but still more than three and a half inches above normal, with a final total of 7.82 inches.

Ginkgo Avenue near Wellman to Close for Repairs

The Washington County Engineer’s Office announced they will be closing County Highway W38 or Ginkgo Avenue to thru traffic between 170th and 180th Streets, four miles south of Wellman for the replacement of a bridge with a box culvert.

Conservation Station to Stop at Running Wild
