A small group gathered Tuesday morning at the Washington Public Library to hear about transparency and accountability in Iowa’s state government. State Senator Becky Schmitz told Washington area residents the forum was also their chance to voice concerns that can be addressed during the next legislative session.  Senate Pro-Tem Jeff Danielson of Waterloo also spoke, describing challenges Iowans face when trying to hold government accountable for its actions.  Danielson said Iowans are often confused if city, county or state government is in charge, and that’s a problem he and State Senator Schmitz are working to correct.  Schmitz says she’ll return to Washington’s Public Library Tuesday at 3:45 to inform business owners of new state resources available to support small business.  Schmitz will be joined by State Senator Tom Riley of Oskaloosa, and will also hold “Main Street Listening Posts” Tuesday in Keosaqua and Fairfield.
