Alliant Energy activated it’s Appliance Cycling Program to save energy during yesterday’s high temperatures. Participating customers’ air conditioners south of I-80 were cycled on and off every 15 minutes to prevent excess energy use, which causes Alliant to purchase additional power from other utility companies.  The program is open to all Alliant customers, and participants are paid $8 each summer month, even if they’re power is not cycled.  Alliant also offers a cycling program for electric water heaters.
