Washington County Supervisors Instruct Auditor To Place Gambling Renewal On Fall Ballot, Hear Ideas For Secondary Roads

Riverside Casino and Golf Resort was granted a nine year gambling license in 2005, but Iowa state code has placed the issue back on this fall’s ballot. Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors instructed County Auditor Bill Fredrick to comply with state regulations that require each gambling county in Iowa to hold a vote on the issue, regardless of when a gambling initiative was passed.  Supervisors also heard a report from County Engineer David Patterson concerning secondary roads.  Patterson provided multiple options for road improvement funding as well as ways to decrease traffic, adding that something had to be done in order to maintain road standards.  Patterson was asked to prepare more information for the board and present again later this month.
