A Washington home suffered fire and water damage to its roof after being struck by lightning last night. The house located at 311 East Main Street caught on fire at approximately 10 pm yesterday during a severe thunderstorm warning for Washington County. Tom Fees lives in one of five units inside of the house. He told KCII that while the fire was caused by lighting, rain from the storm kept the flames small until the fire department arrived within ten minutes to extinguish the building’s roof. The attic apartment was vacant at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. KCII will bring you more details as they become official.
