The Washington School Board has approved more than $11,143,000 in construction bids. Wednesday the board met in special session and approved 17 high school bids, as well as six alternate upgrades. Dan Culp of Carl A. Nelson & Company, the projects construction management firm, told the board the bidding process had a “very good result”, allowing phase two of construction to come in “a little over 4% under budget,” a savings of nearly $500,000.  The board also approved $16,800 for galvanized fencing at the new softball field, with the option of using money from the student-raised activity fund to pay for a possible upgrade to black vinyl.
