Two men have been arrested in connection with the September 16th bank robbery at Wayland State Bank. Morris Thompson III, 26, and Ryan Zasareti, 21, both of Humboldt, Ill., have been charged with multiple crimes related to the robbery on the 16th and also the Aug. 9 bank robberies in Ottumwa and Mount Pleasant. Last week, on Tuesday, Iowa and Illinois police agencies searched places in Humboldt, Ill., where Thompson and Zasereti were known to reside. Zasareti was taken into custody and charged in connection with the Ottumwa bank robbery. He waived extradition and was transported back to Iowa and is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail. Thompson remained at large until Thursday, when Illinois state police spotted Thompson. A lengthy pursuit ensued. During the high-speed chase Thompson lost control of his vehicle. He was apprehended after a short footrace. Thompson is being held in the Coles County, Ill. Jail awaiting extradition.
