It was an up and down night for the Washington Demons on the road in Grinnell, but in the end it came down to a dramatic long field goal to give the Tigers a three point win. The Demons were opening district play and came out strong early. Washington marched the ball 80 yards down the field on their opening drive and Tyler Jaspering scored on a 14 yard touchdown run. Then late in the first quarter the Demons created a Tiger fumble, recovered in Tiger territory and quarterback Jake Redlinger would score on a 9 yard touchdown run as the Demons led 14-0. The second quarter was a nightmare for Washington as Grinnell turned three turnovers into touchdowns to lead 21-14 at the half. The Tigers then took the opening drive down the field to go up 28-14 in the third. Washington would bounce back as they scored two touchdowns to tie it up, one was set up by a 51 yard pass to Parker Turner from Jake Redlinger. With it tied 28-28, late in the fourth quarter, on a third down play the Demons intercepted a Trent Baker pass but a pass interference call bailed the Tigers out. With about one minute left in the game on fourth down the Tigers sent Nate Criswell out for a 51-yard field goal attempt and he hit it to give the Tigers the 31-28 win. For Washington Tyler Jaspering had 23-146 yards 2 touchdowns, Parker Turner had 7-86 yards. Jake Redlinger passing went 7-13 104 yards. Parker Turner 2-receptions for 60 yards. Demons fall to 2-1 they host Benton Community next Friday. Grinnell is now 3-0 and will play at Williamsburg.
