Egg Recall hasn’t affected Local Producer too much

The egg recall which recalled eggs from Wright County Egg has not affected Kalona’s Farmers Hen House in any major ways. General Manager Ryan Miller says he believes the recall might have driven people to more organic egg producers like Farmers Hen House.  Though Miller says this is hard to quantify, though they’ve heard a lot of talk about it at the store level.

Miller says the recall has been a real pain.  Since they produced eggs in Iowa, people in other states thought they were apart of the recall, so they had to get a lot of information out there to stores so people wouldn’t be returning their eggs.  Miller says the recall has taught Farmers Hen House to have more awareness of their hens even though he says they have been vaccinating their hens for years, which Wright County Egg hadn’t been doing.
