The Kalona City Council heard a presentation from Washington County Engineer David Patterson on behalf of the Washington County Trails Committee during their Monday meeting about a proposed Trail Project that would go through the city.  Patterson said he presented three things to the council, the first of which was the background of trails in Washington County, number two was talking about the history of this trail and how it fits in with the county compressive and trails plan and the city of Kalona’s comprehensive plan.  Thirdly Patterson says he talked about the trail in specific, its alignment, location and visionary concept.  The proposed trail is located between the communities of Kalona and Richmond, and crosses the Old English River Bridge.  Patterson says the design of the trail is 60% complete.  Their next step he says is to raise about $1 million dollars to construct the trail.
