The Washington County Board of Supervisors has received its third and final refund of nearly $15,000 from the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool. Paul Horak told the board the money was being given back because of an overage two years ago in the investment pool used by Iowa municipalities and counties. He said the fund is used to provide coverage for buildings, vehicles, general liability and police liability. The yearly premium for Washington County has also gone down $9,000 since 2006, even while more county assets have been added to the coverage list.
