Daniel Sperry returns to Fairfield for Weekend Performances

Former Fairfield resident, and Cellist Daniel Sperry is returning for two concerts today and next weekend. Sperry will perform tonight in a House Concert at Dana Brekke’s at 7:30pm. Cost is $15. The concert next weekend on Saturday the 25th is at 8pm at Café Paradiso, cost is $12. Sperry has recorded two albums since moving from the area to Oregon and performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Green Show. Both Fairfield performances will feature his newly created “Musical Portraits,” composed for individuals. To RSVP for tonight’s Performance call 641-469-5233.

Title: \”Becoming an Astronaut for a Day\” /Design, Build and Launch Your Own Water Bottle Rocket\”
Description: The Washington Public library is partnering with Rockwell Collins to bring two programs at the library teaching physics and astronomy to kids of all ages \”Becoming an Astronaut for a Day\” (for 1st-6th graders) on Saturday from 10am to noon. Where kids will learn through demonstration, models and photographs about space. \”Design, Build and Launch Your Own Water Bottle Rocket\” (for 6th – 12th graders), also on the 25th, will give kids an introduction to the forces at work and design issues of creating and designing their own rockets. A 2-liter bottle is needed for this program. Both events are free and no registration is required.

The program will discuss Washington County Roads with County Engineer Dave Patterson who will give a condition of county roads, impacts from recent flooding; the county’s planning efforts, and the county’s proposal to fix the roads. Senior fest is a community-wide health fair for seniors and those caring for them. Features include: flu shots, Balance/fall prevention, blood pressure check, fitness and exercise, health tests, and much more.
