IMS put on the Early Bird Meet yesterday, and one of their own took first on the boys’ side. The meet featured several area schools including three 4-A schools, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Muscatine, and City High. On the boys’ side, IMS Bill Spencer ran 16-minutes 23-seconds to take first. He finished eight seconds ahead of Chase Moser of Wapello. With his winning run, Spencer also set the meet record which was set by Fairfield’s Graham McCaleb in 2002. Spencer beat it by two seconds. As a team IMS finished fourth, the three 4A schools finished 1-2-3. Also for IMS Seth Miller finished 27th. Looking at some of the other team finishes, Lone Tree finished sixth, Columbus seventh, and Keota eighth.

On the girls side, Lone Tree was right up there at the top. City High took first as a team, but Lone Tree took second, ahead of Muscatine and Cedar Rapids Jefferson. The Lions had two girls finish in the top ten. Ella Feldman finished fourth running 16:52. Teammate Alena Loan finished ninth running 17:42. For IMS, Madeline Miller finished 20th and Elana Gingerich 25th. Columbus finished fifth as a team,
