Three teens from South East Iowa are Semi Finalists for 2011 National Merit Scholarships out of 16,000 semi finalist’s nation wide. Colette Clark of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Taylor Fulton at Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona and Dylan Hochstetler at Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman. The three students are now in competition for 8,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more then $36 million that will be offered next spring. Merit Scholars are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, with out regard to gender, race ethnic origin or religious preference. Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April and concluding in July.
