Less than two months into the school year, a second Washington student has been charged with assault. The Washington County Public Safety Center reports a twelve year old male has been charged with the simple assault of another 10 year male while riding the school bus.  Last week, police charged a 13 year old male with simple misdemeanor assault for an altercation with a 12 year old male that took place at the Washington Junior High School.  Junior High School Principal Curt Mayer says the district takes reports of assaults seriously “no matter how many there are” and handles each case individually based on district policy.  Mayer says that may include adjusting student schedules and transportation plans to separate students.
