A Washington woman has been cited for unlawful passing of a school bus. The Washington County Public Safety Center reports children were getting onto a bus near the 2400 block of 220th Street north of Washington when 27 year old Glenda Lopez and a passenger passed the stopped vehicle. Authorities say Lopez’s vehicle passed on the right side of the bus by driving through someone’s yard “at around 15 miles per hour.” Washington County Deputy Kirk Bailey says school buses are now equipped with video cameras that can record when vehicles pass illegally, but did not know if such a system was in use at the time of the incident. The total fine for unlawfully passing a school bus is $335.
