Beginning Monday, Wayland Road south of Washington will be closed to thru traffic for the construction of paved shoulders. The roadway shoulder paving project will be completed in two phases.  The first phase starts at Sitler Drive in Washington and goes south two miles to Coppock Road, taking approximately four weeks to complete.  During this time, the Airport Road will be the signed detour route.  Weather permitting, Phase II will begin in approximately one month and will continue the project south to 320th Street.  L.L. Pelling of North Liberty will be completing the work.  The $880,000 project is being funded with $500,000 from the Federal “High Risk Rural Roads” program as well as a $250,000 grant from the Riverboat Foundation. Residents may contact the County Engineer’s Office for additional information at 653-7731.
