To help landowners learn more about establishing good native grasses, a field day will be held tonight at 6 PM at the ISU Southeast Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm, located southeast of Crawfordsville. Johnson County Regional Extension Director Gene Mohling says the field day is a response to the 39th Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) signup. He says many bids “included putting native grasses or native pollinator habitat on a portion of the CRP acres.” Field day topics will include species selection, seeding mixes, seeding methods, weed control and maximizing wildlife benefits. For more information or directions to the demonstration farm southeast of Crawfordsville, call 319-337-2145.
