The Mount Vernon Mustangs got on the board first in the Demons’ homecoming game but Washington responded with 21 unanswered points to win 28-10. Early on a Demon punt deep within their own territory set the Mustangs at midfield but Mount Vernon was held to a 30-yard field goal. Washington had a big pass to Jordan Hoffman to get to the 10 yard line and set up a touchdown pass to Austin Knupp from Jake Redlinger. Then a 60 yard punt return by Kyle Roder set up a short touchdown toss to Jordan Hoffman. The Demons led 14-3 at halftime. Washington had another big pass to Landon Coker who got it down to the one and would take it in on the next play. The Mustangs responded with Marshall Tuerler going 80 yards on the kickoff for a touchdown to make it 21-10. Washington’s final score came on a 30 yard pass from Jake Redlinger to Parker Turner as the Demons won 28-10. They improve to 3-3 on the season and are now 1-3 in the district. Mount Vernon falls to 0-6 on the season. The Demons next travel to play South Tama.
