The Kalona City Council held a public hearing Monday during their regular city council meeting to discuss the possibility of entering into a franchise agreement for electric with Interstate Power and Light Company. City Administrator Ryan Slabaugh says they want to do this because the city has gone with out a franchise agreement for 15 years. He says they attempted to secure municipal power on their own but to no success. The First Reading of the Ordinance was passed. The Council also Set Trick or Treating in the City of Kalona to Thursday October 28th at the request of the Kalona Optimist Club which holds its own special Halloween events at that time.
