Title: Understanding Children’s Grief Program
Description: The Hospice of Washington County will be presenting a free program called Understanding Children’s Grief on Saturday November 6th from 9:30am – 11am at the First Baptist Church in Washington. The program is designed to offer assistance to adult caregivers of grieving children. Please call 319-653-7321 for more information or to RSVP. Childcare will be available.

Prepare UMC for Advent!

On Sunday November 28th the United Methodist Church will begin Advent with a Worship service called “Hanging of the Greens.” Teens and interested adults are asked to prepare for this service by pre-decorating on Wednesday November 24th from 8 to 10pm. please see Amy Sara Richardson if you could help.

Prescription Drug Drop Off Day

Prescription Drug Drop Off Day will be Saturday November 13th. You may drop off any old prescriptions at the parking lot of the Presbyterian church at 20- E. Main St. in Washington. It is best if meds are not left in your home if you are not currently using them. You may also take old prescriptions to many pharmacies.

United Methodist’s Chocolate, Coffee and Conversation will be Saturday November 13th from 9-11am meet at the Coffee Corner to enjoy some great Coffee and fellowship with sisters in Christ. Girlfriends unlimited group evening women’s group meets Thursday Nov. 25 from 6:30pm to 8pm in the United Methodist fellowship hall all women are welcome

Funeral Services for 59 Year old Danny Mann of Washington will be 11 am Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am Friday at the Jones – Eden Funeral home.

A funeral mass for 91 year old Leroy F. Mineart is Saturday (10/30) at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Saints Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday (10/29) at 4:00 P.M. at the church with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a wake at 7:00.  Memorials to St. Joseph Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to the family.

Funeral services for 64 year old Clarence “Butch” McCulley of Columbus Junction are Friday (10/29) at 11 am at the Stacy Lewis Home For Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Visitation is tomorrow (10/28) from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery.  A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

$8 Million Dollar General Obligation Bonds Unanimously Approved By Washington County Supervisors

After voting to table the issue at last week’s public forum, the Washington County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved $8 million in General Obligation Bonds to pay for the County’s share of a $12 million secondary roads improvement project.
