The Iowa high school football playoffs will start on Wednesday. Three area teams have earned spots in the postseason. In Class 2A Sigourney-Keota will host West Liberty. West Liberty is coming off a lopsided loss to number one ranked Regina on Friday 41-0. The West Liberty Comets are 4-5 and 4-3 in the district. They face a S-K team that reached the postseason in 2008 and 2007 and lost in the opening rounds to Solon in 08, and North Fayette in 07. The Cobras won the title in 2005. Sigourney-Keota is coming off a 62-33 win over Albia. A game in which the Cobras finished with just over 650 yards of offense in the game. The weather this football season has been extremely nice and as it gets into November it likely could get cold and not as favorable but S-K Head Coach Mark Shilb says that might not be a bad thing for them because they keep the ball on the ground quite a bit. So the Cobras host West Liberty on Wednesday and you’ll be able to hear the game right here on the one to count on KCII we’ll be on the air at 6:45.

Elsewhere the WACO Warriors will be hosting Iowa Valley. The Warriors reached the quarterfinals last season and lost to then top ranked North Tama. WACO is unbeaten this season. Iowa Valley meanwhile has a nice record for a fourth place team out of their district. Iowa Valley is 6-3. The Lone Tree Lions also qualified for the postseason. The Lions will HLV-Victor in Victor. The winner will play the winner of WACO-Iowa Valley.
