Washington County voters did have one option to bring the $8 million decision to the ballot, but that opportunity has passed. County Attorney Bard Edmondson said a petition to force a popular vote needed to be submitted before Tuesday’s forum.  Many in the audience said they were unaware of the provision, but a public notice of the petition requirements were published on October 7th in local publications.  Many present at the meeting were unhappy with the county’s explanation, and the Board of Supervisors voted to table the issue for further consideration at another time.  The public forum was broadcast live on KCII during a special news magazine, and a full podcast of the event is available for download at kciiradio.com.
