Two have been sent to area hospitals after a two car accident on Highway 34 near Fairfield Saturday. The State Patrol reports 68 year old Marilyn Bertsch of Fairfield was traveling westbound on Highway 34 at 3 pm Saturday when her vehicle was struck by a car driven by 35 year old Christopher Greiner of Batavia. Police say Greiner failed to stop at a stop sign on Dewberry Avenue, causing the accident. Bertsch was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Iowa City. Greiner was transported by ambulance to Jefferson County Hospital. Charges are pending in the accident and KCII will bring you more details as they become official.
