The City of Washington has switched its “prime” banking services, saving taxpayers $5,300 dollars. Wednesday the Washington City Council voted to consolidate its prime services from U.S. Bank, and direct deposits for city utilities from Federation Bank, to one entity.  City Treasurer Joe Meyers says five area banks were asked to submit proposals and Washington State Bank was the lowest for both banking services.  Meyers says city residents will not be affected by the change, and monthly automatic payments will continue as normal.
