Washington Still Waiting For First Fall Freeze, Hard Freeze
Posted By News On @ 6:22 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled
Warmer weather has allowed Washington and the surrounding area to go longer than usual without a fall freeze. The National Weather service reports between 1971 and 2000, Washington’s first fall freeze comes between September 19th and Friday, November 5th. The latest hard freeze on record, a mark of the end of the growing season when the temperature reaches 28 degrees for multiple hours, occurred on November 16th. Colder weather means an end to area farmer’s markets, and the Washington Farmer’s Market will have its last day tomorrow. That night, the low temperature is predicted to sink into the high 20s.
