The Washington Demon and WACO Warrior basketball teams will take part in their Hall of Pride Scrimmage tonight. This will be a varsity girl/boy doubleheader and will be played in Wayland. This is something that is new this year in which the state allows teams to use one of their three scrimmages they get in a season, to be used as a Hall of Pride Scrimmage. To be able to put one of these on, each school will have a service project connected to the game and a portion of the proceeds from the gate go to the Hall of Pride’s education fund. Hall of Pride Scrimmages have all of the elements of a typical regular season game, which is unique for scrimmages, but the games do not count towards the teams won-loss records.

For the Demons girls they come into tonight having won their season opener at Eddyville-Blakesburg. WACO won their opener as well beating IMS earlier this week. Heading in Demon Head Coach Phil Long says it may have scrimmage in the name but he’s approaching it like a regular game. The two teams haven’t played since the 08 when the Demons beat WACO 49-36. On the boys’ side it will be the first game for both teams. The boys’ team also haven’t met since 08 when WACO won 69-64. The girls will tip off at six followed by the boys.

Three other area schools also have Hall of Pride Scrimmages. Tomorrow Keota will head to Wellman to play Mid-Prairie in a boy/girl doubleheader. Also the Winfield-Mount Union boys will play West Burlington.
