Keokuk County organizations are teaming up to help dispose of old, unwanted and expired medications this weekend. KCSTAAR, Keokuk County Sheriff’s Department, the Keota Police Department, and the Sigourney Police Department are teaming up to reduce the risk of abuse, theft, or having medications enter the water supply. Lynn Zoulek with KCSTAAR says they realize that prescription drug abuse is another drug of abuse in Keokuk County. Zoulek says donating your outdated or unwanted prescription medication can keep it out of the wrong hands. Drop off locations have been arranged at the Fire Stations in Keota, Sigourney and What Cheer on Saturday, November 13th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
