The Iowa Supreme Court ruled Friday that injury release forms signed by parents for their kid’s field trips can’t be enforced. The ruling has now put local schools permission forms for school trips up in the air says Mid Prairie and Keota School district Superintendent Mark Schneider. Schneider says it is going to cause a lot of school districts to reexamine their policies and consult with their school attorneys. Schneider says one possibility of this ruling is that it will have a chilling affect on some of the activities that schools do with children. Schneider says Mid Prairie and Keota School Districts will take a wait and see approach while they talk to their attorneys. Schneider says for the immediate future they will run things like they normally do with school field trips.
