County treasurers in Iowa including several in south east Iowa are sticking with a struggling West Des Moines software company that hosts a website where residents can pay property taxes and motor vehicle fees online. Washington County Treasurer Jeff Garrett says Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry and Louisa Counties are a part of the Iowa County Treasurers E-Government Alliance that uses ABC Virtual which has hosted IowaTreasurers.org since 2007. Garrett says even though ABC Virtual is having money problems people who use the website shouldn’t see any problems. He says the alliance recently took steps to tighten security of funds. He says there will be no chance of any government funds being lost if something did happen to ABC Virtual. He says the only problems people might see is if ABC Virtual ceased to exist and the site would go down for a while. Garrett says he has no fear of that happening. Iowa and Johnson counties do not use the service.
