Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program agencies are now accepting applications for the upcoming winter season. The program is used to help low-income level households with the cost of winter gas or electric bills. Director of Customer Support Services for Alliant Energy Tim Heinrich says they “encourage customers to check their eligibility now and apply as soon as possible.” To receive assistance, qualified residents can apply to their local county energy assistance agency for LIHEAP (Lie-Heep) funds from now until April 1st, 2011, or by calling 866-674-6327. Payments depend on household size, income level, and home energy costs.
