The Mid-Prairie girls’ basketball team opens their season on Monday and heading in their coach feels they’ll have more depth this season. Last season the Golden Hawks were young and started four freshman in their varsity lineup. Head Coach Marc Pennington says heading into this season they have 12 sophomores and having that year of experience has been helpful because the girls know what he expects and they have had an easier time putting in some new things. Pennington says they had their best off season since he’s been there in terms of working out and the girls getting in the gym. He feels their athleticism will be their biggest strength. The Golden Hawks host a Jamboree tomorrow and then open the season with West Liberty on Monday.
