An event in Kalona this weekend will benefit local, national and international charities, and may help you with your Christmas shopping. The Mid-Prairie Council of Churches’ Mission Market is being held Saturday from 9:30 to 11am at Kalona Methodist Church. The Council is made up of a number of churches located in Kalona and Wellman, and one in West Chester.

Jean Stout is a member of one of those churches. She explains the event will be a chance for people to donate to area non-profits in honor of a friend or relative. She says then you give a card created by the onsite calligrapher to that loved one explaining a donation has been made in their name.

Some of the organizations and missions expected to be in attendance include the Washington County Enrichment Foundation, Washington County Habitat for Humanity, Kids Against Hunger, Heifer International, Imagine No Malaria, Tools of Hope & Blankets, St. Maria’s Bread House, Mary’s Meals, Wellman Summer Lunch Program, and the A2J local MS/HS after school ministry.
